Chiropractic Care in Smithfield
At Smithfield Chiropractic, our goal is to help patients move better, feel better, and return to the activities that matter to them. We provide individualized chiropractic care for patients experiencing pain, stiffness, injuries, restricted movement, and other musculoskeletal concerns.
Rather than taking the same approach with every patient, our chiropractors evaluate your condition and develop a treatment plan based on your examination findings, health history, comfort level, and individual goals.
What Is Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractic care focuses on the relationship between the joints, muscles, and other structures of the musculoskeletal system and how they affect movement and function.
Chiropractic adjustments use controlled force to improve motion in joints that are restricted or not moving properly. Depending on the patient, treatment may involve hands-on manual adjustments, low-force instrument-assisted techniques, or a combination of approaches.
At Smithfield Chiropractic, we use a variety of adjusting techniques so care can be tailored to the individual rather than expecting every patient to respond to the same type of adjustment.
Benefits of Chiropractic Care
- Improve Joint Mobility: Address areas of restricted or uncomfortable movement.
- Reduce Pain and Stiffness: Help manage common musculoskeletal symptoms involving the spine and extremities.
- Improve Function: Make everyday movements and activities more comfortable.
- Return to Activity: Support recovery following certain injuries, strains, and periods of reduced mobility.
- Maintain Mobility: Help patients who want to remain active and address recurring stiffness or movement restrictions.

Because similar symptoms can have different causes, your chiropractor will evaluate your condition before recommending treatment.
More Than One Chiropractic Technique
Every patient is different. Some prefer traditional hands-on adjustments, while others are more comfortable with a gentler, low-force approach.
Our chiropractors use multiple adjusting techniques, including Diversified Technique for traditional hands-on adjustments and the Activator Method for a low-force, instrument-assisted approach. The technique used is selected based on your condition, examination findings, comfort level, and response to care.
When appropriate, chiropractic care may also be combined with assisted stretching, therapeutic exercise, soft-tissue treatment, massage therapy, dry needling, acupuncture, or other supportive services available at Smithfield Chiropractic.
What to Expect
Your first visit begins with a consultation and health history so your chiropractor can understand your symptoms, concerns, and treatment goals. A physical examination is then performed to evaluate areas such as movement, joint function, muscle tension, and other findings related to your complaint.
Additional evaluation, including X-rays, may be recommended when clinically appropriate.
After your evaluation, your chiropractor will explain the findings, discuss treatment options, and recommend a plan of care based on your individual needs.
Treatment may include chiropractic adjustments and other supportive therapies when appropriate. Your progress and response to care help determine how treatment is modified over time.
Chiropractic Care for Every Stage
Some patients come to us because of a new injury or sudden episode of pain. Others are dealing with a problem that has persisted for months or years. We also see patients who choose chiropractic care periodically to help maintain mobility and function.
Whatever brings you to Smithfield Chiropractic, our approach is centered on understanding your individual needs and providing care appropriate for where you are today.
