Sciatica & Radiating Pain Smithfield, UT

Sciatica & Radiating Pain

Sciatica commonly refers to pain that travels from the lower back or buttock into the leg along the distribution of the sciatic nerve. Radiating symptoms can also occur in other areas of the body, including pain or other symptoms that travel from the neck or shoulder into the arm or hand.

Because radiating symptoms can have different causes, identifying where the symptoms begin, where they travel, and what movements or activities affect them is an important part of the evaluation.

Common Symptoms

  • Pain extending from the lower back or buttock into the leg
  • Pain extending from the neck or shoulder into the arm or hand
  • Sharp, shooting, or electric-like pain
  • Burning sensations
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Symptoms that change with position or movement

If pain, numbness, or tingling is traveling into an arm or leg or interfering with normal activities, schedule an evaluation at Smithfield Chiropractic to determine what may be contributing to your symptoms and what treatment options may be appropriate.
