TMJ / Jaw Pain
The temporomandibular joints (TMJs) connect the lower jaw to the skull and are involved in everyday movements such as talking, chewing, and yawning. Problems involving the jaw joints and surrounding muscles are commonly referred to as temporomandibular disorders, or TMD.
Jaw pain and restricted movement can interfere with eating, speaking, sleeping, and other everyday activities.
Common Symptoms
- Jaw pain or soreness
- Tightness in the jaw muscles
- Pain or difficulty with chewing
- Restricted or uncomfortable jaw movement
- Clicking or popping of the jaw
- Discomfort around the jaw or in front of the ear
If jaw pain or restricted movement is interfering with eating, speaking, sleeping, or everyday activities, schedule an evaluation at Smithfield Chiropractic to determine whether musculoskeletal factors may be contributing to your symptoms and what treatment options may be appropriate.
